New Worship Site
Here’s the prayer update:
Wednesday November 4, 2009
Bob, Michael, Karen and Albert had a meeting with the landlord of a potential worship site this morning. The meeting went well – good start to what we hope can be a good and enduring relationship! The main room where we would meet would serve us best if it could be enlarged by ten feet on one side. We believe we should have a worship space that can fit 300-350 chairs. As this room is right now, it likely could fit 200-225, which would leave us little room to grow. If the landlord could move one wall ten feet it would increase the capacity of this room to 300-325. We made the request, he is motivated enough to get someone in – the building has been vacant for quite a while, so he will ask the other tenant and see what can be done.
This space also has some real good potential to have great classroom spaces for our children’s ministry, and some good office and adult classroom space. It’s just off Mira Mesa Blvd in Sorrento Mesa, and if the Lord blesses us and we grow, there is room to expand.
Please pray:
- If the landlord can relocate his other tenant into other space in the building (there are many empty parts of the building where the other tenant could move these offices to) this will be a key step.
- Bob will meet with a space planner on Monday afternoon – this will help the landlord answer questions about what terms he can agree to as we negotiate the terms of a lease.
Prayer Update - Tuesday November 10, 2009
Bob and Karen met with the Space Planner on Monday Nov. 9 at the prospective location to go over specific Tenant Improvements (TIs) to see how and if this space can accommodate our needs. There are some good points and some questions as to whether this site can work for us. The biggest question is whether or not the largest room can fit 300 chairs so we can have enough room to grow. The space planner believes this room can fit 300 chairs, so we are awaiting his calculations, and specific seating plan, to see if he is right and if it would be acceptable. We had asked the landlord if a wall can be moved to make this room larger and make certain we can fit the 300+ chairs, but at this point he feels such a TI is too expensive.
Prayer Update - Tuesday December 1, 2009
We are still looking at potential sites. Karen and Bob looked at a site with good potential on Monday Nov. 30 and are waiting for a time to meet with a space planner later in the week to see if this space can meet our needs. This site is very attractive, and is located in the Sorrento Mesa area – the two big questions are:
- can we seat 250 in the worship area?
- can we have enough classroom space for kids?
Prayer Update - Friday January 28, 2010
Over the past three weeks Bob & Cedric have made some new contacts in the commercial real estate industry that have helped us locate a larger exposure to several possible sites. We have looked at about six locations in the past week, with one or two looking like real possibilities. Please continue to pray – ask our heavenly father to guide us to a suitable facility, and guide us to negotiate a lease that we can afford. If all goes well in the next 5-7 days, we hope to invite everyone to check out a possible site!
Prayer Update - Tuesday February 23, 2010
About three weeks ago Pastor Bob began to pull together a “Building Committee” to help research costs and all the steps involved in being able to move into a facility. We also began to exchange terms with a prospective landlord concerning an 8000 square foot suite in an office complex in Sorrento Mesa. We are putting together a presentation to describe several steps we would need to take in order to finance and furnish a move to this facility – an invitation to hear all about this possibility will go out to all Harbor MM & UTC members and attenders in the next week.
